EBay Best Practice #1

I consider myself a pretty knowledgeable EBayer. I have bought and sold things for around 8 years there with varying success. I am in no way an expert, but would someone, anyone, explain to me how an auction set up like THIS ONE makes any sense at all.

Um, let's see, should I just buy it now? or bid for that same amount and hope someone rides the price up on me? Oh, what's a girl to do?!

I see this type of idiocy all the time. It's really not all that surprising anymore. The surprising thing is that these 'Sellers' actually found a way to release their waistband from the hook in their 7th grade locker before the asphyxiation caused permanent brain damage. Wait . . .

  1. It's simple - the person is a complete and utter idiot. Anyone who puts "god bless" in a listing is a complete and utter idiot.

  2. That can be taken a few different ways. I for one am a firm believer in God, so I choose to take it as a commentary that using that language in an EBay listing isn't necessarily the place. In that case I agree. I don't choose to bid or not bid based on a person's belief. Shoot, you can be ripped off by anyone these days. I mean, the crack-head downtown Charlotte had a sign asking for money with the same words.

However, if you mean it in a more nefarious way, then you paint with a Sean Gilbert sized brush.

  3. The person is an idiot (in my opinion obviously) because a person's religious beliefs should not be bought into trying to sell a product. If a person said "May allah bless us in our jihad against the infidels" can you imagine what the response would be? "GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS" is little to no different.

Oh, and have you ever tried painting with a Sean Gilbert sized brush? Sure it may be a little heavy to hold, but it sure get's things done quicker.

    - agreed. however I do like to know when someone is giving a cut to a cause like the troops. I would also want to know if they were giving a cut to support jihad. I don't think there is an ebay ribbon for that though.

  5. Woah, Alex. He's just saying that he supports the troops and that he'll ship to an APO overseas. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get some people to send anything to an APO? It gets ridiculous sometimes.
